Consecutive Sellout Streak: The Dragons have maintained an ongoing sellout streak since their inaugural season, surpassing 1,500 consecutive sold-out games, the longest in professional sports history.
Day Air Ballpark [formerly known as Fifth Third Field] consists of 7,230 fixed seats, 25 suites, and was one of the first ballparks to offer upper deck premium seating at the Class A level of play. The ballpark is rich in fan amenities that have contributed to the Dayton Dragon’s track record of a 5,000 patron season ticket waiting list and a record breaking ten consecutive years of sell out ticket demand prior to the start of season play. This project was key to the revitalization of Downtown Dayton and adjacent riverfront development. Day Air Ballpark succeeded in creating a balance between traditional baseball operations and community use. One of the key goals of the Mayor and the City Council on this project was the creation of an outdoor plaza that offered enough flexibility to serve the needs of the baseball team but also to accommodate public events, City functions, and promotional tours. Concert power/ electrical service and public seating were incorporated in the design to meet this need. We encountered unforeseen site conditions that included building rubble from a previous building demolition, false aquifer readings due to site contaminations, and high water conditions due to over excavation of the site to remove unforeseen building debris. Pendulum CEO Jonathan Cole served as the Lead Designer and Construction Administrator for the project before the founding of Pendulum.
Current Project
Pendulum was retained by the Dayton Dragons in 2021 to perform a feasibility study to upgrade to the ballpark to the current MLB Facilities Standards that were published in late 2020. Pendulum is working with the Ownership and Team on a phased approach to ensure that Day Air Ballpark goes above and beyond to be compliant by 2025.
