Luther Williams Field - Macon, GA

Macon, Georgia. A 75 year old historic ballpark about an hour outside Atlanta, home of the Macon Bacon.

The park has hosted an Atlanta Braves Minor League club and the Macon Music, and served as the film set for the motion picture 42, which chronicled Jackie Robinson's major league debut. History was never the problem.

Infrastructure was. The City of Macon struggled to retain tenants because the facility was too old for an audience that had changed. Modern Minor League baseball runs on affordable family entertainment, which means more fixed armchair seating is what keeps a tenant economically sustainable.

A $2.5 million investment went where people spend: twelve new concession points of sale, a full service production kitchen, a covered food cart zone with eight powered carts, two new restrooms, a kids fun zone, six cabana suites, a covered party deck for 200, a beer garden, reconditioned seating and a reconstructed outfield wall.
