Pendulum collaborated with Turner Construction on a Design/Build project for the Maryland Stadium Authority in Hagerstown, Maryland. The new multi-use sports and events facility accommodates a wide variety of events, including sports, e-sports, concerts, festivals, town halls, movie nights, car shows, weddings, conferences, civic events, and more. The facility also serves as the home of the Hagerstown Flying Boxcars, the newest MiLB Partner League team in the Atlantic League.
Pendulum took on the risk of developing a Schematic Design-level BIM model eight months prior to project award. Our advanced design provided our build partner with the necessary information and data to use their historical cost modeling to identify potential budget challenges. The multi-use facility features a 360-degree wrap-around concourse, premium fan amenities, state-of-the-art locker rooms, food and beverage spaces, ADA accommodations, restrooms, a playing field surface, team operations and store, and more.
Pendulum & Fab+: Collaboration and Customization
The Flying Boxcar now illuminates the night sky for the Hagerstown Flying Boxcars. The collaboration between Pendulum and Fab+ has resulted in the successful design, delivery, and installation of this iconic feature. With assistance from the Maryland Stadium Authority and the Turner Construction team, Fab+ completed the installation of the Flying Boxcar in its permanent location just outside the right field fence at Meritus Health Park in Hagerstown, Maryland. This entire project has been a collaborative effort from design through installation, and the Fab+ team is pleased with the final outcome. The aluminum “Boxcar,” boasting a wingspan of nearly 30 feet, is positioned on a custom platform, and its LED lights can be color-adjusted to any desired configuration.
